BESPOKE
RECYCLED METAL SCULPTURES
Unique sculptures, handcrafted for your space
Looking for something truly individual? Chi-Africa creates bespoke recycled metal sculptures for private gardens, commercial spaces, hospitality venues, landscape projects, charities and special events.
From large-scale wildlife sculptures and botanical installations to one-of-a-kind statement pieces, every commission is handcrafted in Zimbabwe using recycled and reclaimed metal. The character of the materials, combined with the skill of our makers, ensures that each finished sculpture is completely unique.
Whether you already have a clear idea in mind or would like help developing an initial concept, we can work with you to create a distinctive piece designed for its intended setting.
Bespoke garden sculptures
A commissioned sculpture can transform a garden, bringing personality, interest and a strong focal point to the landscape.
Chi-Africa can create bespoke metal garden sculptures in a range of subjects and sizes, from familiar British wildlife and much-loved animals to striking birds, flowers and entirely original designs. Sculptures can be created for private gardens, courtyards, estates and larger landscaping schemes, with their scale and proportions tailored to suit the surrounding space.
The recycled metal used to create each piece carries its own markings, textures and history. These natural variations become part of the finished design, giving every sculpture an individual character that cannot be replicated.
Commercial and hospitality commissions
Bespoke recycled metal sculptures can make a memorable addition to hotels, restaurants, pubs, visitor attractions, workplaces and other commercial environments.
Chi-Africa has previously created sculptures for hospitality settings, including statement pieces designed to complement the character and surroundings of individual venues. A bespoke commission can be used to create a focal point, reflect the identity of a business or introduce an unusual talking point for visitors and guests.
From dramatic entrance sculptures and outdoor installations to smaller decorative pieces, each design can be developed with its location, audience and purpose in mind.
Sculptures for landscape and public spaces
Our handcrafted metal sculptures are equally suited to landscape projects, public spaces and larger outdoor installations.
We can work with landscape designers, garden designers, architects, developers and organisations to create pieces that respond to a particular setting or project. This might include an individual wildlife sculpture, a group of botanical forms or a larger installation designed to sit naturally within the surrounding planting and landscape.
The durability and visual character of recycled metal make it particularly effective outdoors, where the sculpture can continue to develop its own patina over time.
Working in partnership with charities
Chi-Africa is proud to work with charities and organisations to create bespoke sculptures for fundraising appeals, remembrance installations, community projects and special events.
For Saint Michael’s Hospice, we designed and delivered more than 1,300 individually handcrafted metal daisies for the charity’s first remembrance installation. Supporters were invited to dedicate a daisy in memory of someone special before choosing one to take home and treasure. Each flower was slightly different, reflecting both the individuality of the recycled materials and the unique person being remembered.
The appeal raised more than £16,000 for the hospice, demonstrating how a thoughtfully designed sculpture can become much more than an object. It can create a shared experience, provide a lasting keepsake and help a charity tell its story in a meaningful and memorable way.
We welcome enquiries from charities looking to develop creative fundraising ideas, commemorative installations or bespoke metal sculptures connected to their work.
Handmade in Zimbabwe
Every Chi-Africa commission is made by hand in Zimbabwe by skilled craftspeople using recycled and reclaimed metal.
Traditional metalworking techniques are used to cut, shape, weld and finish every element of the sculpture. This handmade process gives each piece its distinctive character while supporting skilled employment and celebrating the creativity of Zimbabwean craftsmanship.
Because reclaimed materials are used, colours, markings and finishes will naturally vary. These differences are an important part of the design and mean that no two bespoke sculptures will ever be exactly alike.
From initial idea to finished sculpture
Every bespoke commission begins with a conversation. We will discuss your idea, the intended location, approximate size, timescale and any practical requirements before exploring how the sculpture could be brought to life.
Depending on the project, the process may include:
Discussing your initial idea and intended setting
Agreeing the subject, scale and key design details
Developing a quotation for the commission
Handcrafting the sculpture in Zimbabwe
Providing updates as the piece takes shape
Arranging delivery of the completed sculpture
As every commission is individually designed and handmade, timescales and costs will vary according to the size and complexity of the project.
